The Blue Rogues

In the streets of Salford stands a hollowed out Victorian terrace house wherein lies The Eagle Inn. Manoeuvring through the traditional pub, down a winding corridor, you find yourself in a backroom. A stage at one end, backlit with fairy lights and a sound desk at the other for the master of music, leaving room betwixt for a captivated, hungry audience. The greatly anticipated Blue Rogues enter the stage. The crowd, having been primed by the support acts, wait on tenterhooks as the first string is plucked, “Ladies and gentlemen, The Blue Rogues,” John Eames the frontman purrs and kicks off the set with ‘Ballacrye’. After a plethora of psychedelic rock blues originals, the crowd is fed with a vibrant cover of ‘Colors’ by Black Pumas, Sam Clarke anchoring the rhythm with his bass. The passion oozes from the four-man band as they lead into ‘Traces of Judi’, a song dedicated to their manager’s mother. ‘Pool House’ by The Backseat Lovers slowly builds as the sonorous voice of Eddie Daseco, the guitarist, settles on the room and as the song swells, his voice strains with deep emotion. The set finishes with the unmistakeable guitar riff of ‘Hotel California’, the iconic song rings out across the Salford pub. The electric instrumental compelling John to deftly dart across his frets; Benji Penn, the drummer, moves wildly, accidently tossing a drumstick to the spectators. Now satiated, the audience erupts into frenzied applause. A breathtaking performance from The Blue Rogues.
